Microscope Restoration

We’re sad to report that Jeffrey Lock passed away in 2019. As a result we can no longer offer restoration and repair services. His family continues to maintain this website to offer instruments for sales and to honor the memory of his work.

We offer microscope restoration including the repair and replication of missing pieces on 18th and early 19th century microscopes. We have access to a thorough database showing original microscopes and ancillary items as models for replicated items.

For the last ten years, we have been restoring microscopes for one of the most important private collections in this country. Pictured above are some examples of the microscopes we have worked on from this collection. We have fabricated missing items, balanced out lacquering inequalities, as well as repair to the original wooden cases. We have an extensive inventory of Cuban mahogany, Honduran mahogany, as well as European boxwood, with the ability to stain and patinate to match the original casework.
